Programme
The BMB’s season will conclude with a zarzuela by Rafael Martínez Valls, Cançó d’amor i de guerra (Song of Love and War). The performance will feature singers Marta Mathéu and Roger Padullés, along with the Coral Cantiga choir, conducted by Montserrat Meneses, and the Puig-Reig Polyphonic Orchestra, under the direction of Emmanuel Niubò. Its author tells a poignant love story set during the French Revolution, specifically in 1793, four years after the establishment of the new regime. In the society of its time —it was conceived in 1926— this zarzuela sparked considerable controversy, both for its plot and its music, which intensifies the tensions between the main couples and implies the existence of a love triangle.
