Programme
Hèctor Parra returns to L’Auditori with a piece that has never been heard in public before. The world première of his work, commissioned by the BMB, highlights some of his virtues as a composer: a commitment to the exploration of new sounds that does not lose sight of the overall direction, thanks to a remarkably organic articulation.
David Maslanka, a regular in the BMB’s concert series, offers us his work Angel of Mercy, in which spirituality is summoned from the initial declamation, reinforcing the intentionality expressed in the work’s title: a form of musical prayer that passes through essentially minimalist passages, hinting at peace of mind while at the same time leading to the possibility of frenzy.
Another of the greats, Johan de Meij, participates on this occasion with his Sinfonie der Lieder (Symphony of Songs) for solo voice, children’s choir and wind orchestra. The composition requires the voice of mezzo-soprano Gemma Coma-Alabert and the Escolania de Montserrat, conducted by Llorenç Castelló.
